It has been over 2 months since my last post. There is a reason for this blog hiatus.
On February 20th of this year, while out for a walk, I was assaulted and my camera was forcibly ripped from my grasp. I managed to get the camera back but I also suffered an injury to my right wrist. Performing any actions with my right hand was painful, painful to the point I sought to avoid using it. The few blog posts made after February 20th were already written and needed only to be uploaded.
Both domestic chores and typing became difficult. I assumed the pain would abate within a week or so. When it did not, I went to the emergency department of the local hospital to have my wrist checked. It turned out to be nothing but a ligament and tendon injury but this is a bit of an understatement. Try going about your day with your dominant hand tied behind your back and you will quickly get the idea. Today I still experience pain when I perform certain actions, or exert pressure that bears on my right wrist.
While suffering from the hand injury, I had to travel twice to Montreal to see a neuropsychologist and undergo a battery of tests. This activity absorbed the better part of two weeks. One outcome of these visits was greater self awareness and a better understanding of my past history.
I have been busy scheduling other appointments. I underwent a hearing test. This showed I have suffered a hearing loss subsequent to the accident. In addition I have a constant ringing in my right ear. I will write more on this later.
The one positive aspect to these events is that I have not had to worry about alienating my readership. I truly have no readers. The most active visitor is a bot, one which appears to plague a great many sites.
The blog has helped me address a variety of issues. It has assisted me in “learning to think.” That may sound completely wacky but this is an accurate reflection of the chief benefit I have found from blogging.
I wish now to use the blog as a means to document my progress as I extend out into the community. I suspect I am dealing with a cluster of issues of import to persons facing similar forms of injury, or issues associated with aging and a low income. Plus, I want to continue the series on past employment as this may provide me with guidance in finding an appropriate economic niche.
