I keep an “accident log.” This is an informal record of daily events related to the injury. In recent months I have been documenting fewer events. My logic has been that a continued focus on my errors and mistakes would only serve to highlight my various problems. I thought it might be better to avoid this regular documentation and simply live my day as best I could without listing my errors. After all, we all make errors. A painstaking analysis of each one did not seem to deliver much in the way of benefit.

Brain Injury Support Group
Yesterday, I went to my Brain Injury Support Group. These are difficult events. I must interact with 10 other people and I have trouble keeping up with the flow of conversation. While I try to take notes, my notes are often next to useless. They end up as single word snapshots of an entire conversational thread. Without the context, I have no understanding of the meaning of my one captured code word.

Things Noted
I will normally need to take a fatigue nap after four hours of work. I will fall asleep and automatically wake an hour later feeling refreshed. With my extended period of intense work on the project, I found myself waking later, and later. Ultimately, the one hour nap became a two hour nap, and then a three hour nap.
